This project has developed over three years of experimenting with one idea -- to compose an album entirely from sampled audio, contributing no original audio of my own.
Recognizing YouTube as the naturally regenerative archive of open source, unique audio/video that it is, I comprised the album exclusively from mined user-posted material.
Over the years, I collected, manipulated, and sequenced over 500 individual samples within these 7 tracks -- the original videos ranging from the typical bedroom-webcam performance, to candid video of street performers, to how-to instructional tutorials on fixing up your dead engine.
Having archived so many unique audio/video samples over the course of the project, and having manipulated each of them individually to varying degrees, the origin and identity of each sample became increasingly difficult even for me to place -- rendering the album's credited performers into a vague, anonymous and unidentifiable crowd.
The album is available for free download, though any and all support would be so greatly appreciated.
Thank you and enjoy!
